“Youth is the power of the nation” – الأمة_بشبابها

“Youth is the power of the nation” is the motto of the Doha OIC Youth Capital 2019; denoting that we are change makers, and our inputs are integral to the socio-economic development of our societies.

According to the UNFPA’s The state of the world 2014 report “The power of 1.8 billion: Adolescents, youth, and the transformation of the future”, there are 1.8 billion youth in the world, whom are projected to increase to 1.9 billion by 2050.

These numbers are such mainly because The United Nations (UN) defines youth as persons between the ages of 15 to 24; with all UN statistics based on this range, while IGO’s like Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), and African Union (AU) defines youth as ages of 15 to 29, and 15 to 35 respectively; mainly because of the development realities of youth within these regions.

Regardless of the definition of youth by various organisations, young people are innovative, creative, and can transform the future only if they have the skills, decision-making, health, and undertake real life choices.

Doha Muslim Youth Forum engaged 90 young leaders from across the globe to increase our awareness of good governance and transparency, sustainable development challenges and our role in contributing to vision 2030, the impact of social media, and simulations of OIC Summit.

We engaged in these conversations with various experts in these fields, through conferences, workshops, and reached resolutions known as the “Doha Declarations”, which will be submitted to various decision making authorities.
